I spent a good part of my MA studying Icelandic women's magic. There was a lot performed by women until the thirteenth century or so, and then it was all men, all the time (except for that one poor woman...) If I remember correctly, the Danes came along and told the Icelanders "You're all Protestants now, and by the way, start looking for witches, because everyone has a few." The Icelanders had to be taught to do it, and then did it their own way, anyways. What a bunch of guys.

That said, I had never heard of this museum. I started salivating when you mentioned the grimoires. Thank you for letting me/us know about this! This is so cool!
